Pascal P. says:
I was wondering if anyone here had first hand experience with the Municipal Employees Credit Union (which despite the name is open to anyone living in B'more.) I'm planning on buying a house in about a year, and am trying to find the best place to get a mortgage. I figure I'll probably get a better deal at a local credit union than from a big national bank, and MECU offers a quarter percentage point discount to customers who're buying a home within city limits.

Alyce "What's in a nickname?" M. says:
I don't have any experience with MECU but after just dealing with the whole mortgage situation, we went with an upfront mortgage broker.
This site has general information on them:

And this is the site for the broker we used:
http://gotehomeloans.com/
