So Adrienne ( http://martinigirl.yel... ) asked me if I knew if Torrefazione was closed and as far as their website is concerned they don't acknowledge owning any cafes, but I haven't been by one too recently.

Starbucks bought them out, after buying out Seattle's Best Coffee, and is pushing those brands on the grocery and wholesale markets while ensuring little competition in the retail arena.

Who's next? Tullys?

Answer: Specialty's Cafe & Bakery...A few locations downtown and one in Belle Square.  Though coffee is their main focus, it's damn good since they get it from a indy roaster called Intellegentsia.

Now that Torrefazione has been bought out, I hear that the founder quit and his son started his own coffee company called Umbria.  You should give them a shot - They're not bad.  Peet's is also a good alternative IMO.
